Importance of Dental Exams and Cleanings

Are you taking proper care of your oral health? Dental exams and cleanings are crucial to the overall health of your mouth. This blog will explain what these appointments entail and why they are important.

What are Dental Exams & Cleanings?

Dental Exams and cleanings are routine dental appointments that help maintain your oral health. A licensed hygienist performs cleanings using specialized tools and instruments to remove unwanted germs from your teeth.

The exam, performed by one of our doctors, is a comprehensive evaluation of your oral health. It includes checking for cavities, issues with restorations, and even oral cancer.

Why are Dental Exams & Cleanings needed?

You must schedule regular exams and cleanings to avoid catching oral health issues in their early stages when they are easier to treat. Over time, plaque can harden into tartar, leading to tooth decay and gum disease.

Small cavities may go unnoticed, eventually requiring more costly treatments. You can prevent these problems by scheduling regular exams and cleanings.

How Often Should You Have Your Teeth Cleaned?

The American Dental Association recommends that adults have a dental exam and cleaning every six months. These bi-annual appointments help prevent tooth decay and gum disease which allows our doctors to spot potential problems early on.

If it has been a while since your last exam and cleaning, there is always time to start taking a proactive approach to your oral health.

What Happens During Dental Exams & Cleanings?

During your appointment, our team will take x-rays to diagnose any underlying dental conditions. The hygienist will then clean your teeth, removing plaque and tartar and flossing and polishing your teeth to a high shine.

Your gums will be checked for signs of gingivitis or gum disease. Next, the doctor will perform a comprehensive exam, looking for cavities, loose or broken restorations, problematic teeth, and oral cancer. If any issues are found, the doctor will create a treatment plan to address them.

Don’t wait; Call Om Samaj Dental Hospital to schedule an appointment if you need a dental exam and cleaning. Take the first step towards a healthy mouth and smile today!

Why Do You Need A Dental Check Up Every Six Months?

The majority of people understand the importance of regular dental check up and seeing their dentist regularly. To maintain good health, taking good care of your teeth is one of the best things you can do.

Although some dentists suggest dental checkups once every year, it is a good idea to schedule an appointment every six months. It will ensure proper care of your oral health.

5 Reasons Why You Need a Six-Month Checkup

1. To Detect Dental Problems Early

Regular dental checkups can detect serious health problems before they become costly or painful. Various oral problems can be cared for before they become serious. Signs of tooth decay, gum diseases, and even oral cancer can be detected and treated accordingly.

2. Avoiding Bad Habits

Routine visits to the dentist can help you avoid bad oral habits before they negatively affect your oral health. Dentists are often able to spot the warning signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and even oral cancer before they become apparent to you.

3. Avoiding Early Tooth Loss

Tooth decay and gum disease are serious conditions that can lead to the premature loss of teeth. Teeth are meant to last a lifetime, but if they are not cared for on time, they can cause discomfort, difficulty chewing, and other problems. Proper dental care will keep your teeth strong and healthy for as long as possible.

4. Save Time and Money in The Long Run

With good dental care, you can avoid many dental problems and costly treatments in the future. As we know “Prevention is better than Cure”, preventative measures such as timely dental check-ups can save money and time as such routines help to identify underlying problems before they become serious.

5. Avoid Tooth Decay

Dentists can quickly diagnose tooth decay. Even if the tooth decay is small, it will only get worse. You can lose your teeth if such tooth decay is not treated early because smaller cavities will enlarge and eventually require root canal therapy, crowns, and even extractions. Tooth decay becomes severe and extensive treatments.

Final Words

It is important for your health and happiness to visit your dentist every six months for a routine exam and cleaning. Contact Om-Samaj Dental Hospital to schedule your next routine dental appointment or schedule a checkup.

Wisdom Teeth | Extraction | Symptoms

Are you experiencing pain in your back molars and not sure why? It could be due to your wisdom teeth.

What Are Wisdom Teeth?

They are also known as third molars, typically grow in between the ages of 17 to 25. Most people have four such teeth, two on the top and two on the bottom.

Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Unfortunately, research shows that 85% of wisdom teeth eventually need to be extracted. If the jaw is strong enough, the extraction process is relatively easy.

However, if the jaw is not strong enough, the extraction can cause pain for the individual.

Wisdom Teeth Pain

So, what happens when you have such pain?

The teeth position can become impacted, or stuck, in your jaw if they are unable to grow normally.

This can occasionally lead to infection or even a cyst that harms the tooth roots or the bone’s support system.

Additionally, the pain can be caused by other teeth as they make it difficult to clean the the teeth properly, leading to future dental pain and problems.

Symptoms of Wisdom Teeth Pain

It’s important to note that not all wisdom teeth cause pain or damage, but if you’re experiencing any of the following symptoms, it may be a sign of such pain.

  • Redness in the area
  • Bleeding, Swelling
  • A bad taste in your mouth
  • Difficulty opening your mouth
  • Difficulty speaking properly

Taking Action

If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s best to schedule an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible.

They can help prevent further issues and complications by removing problematic teeth. And remember, regular check-ups and cleanings with your dentist can also help detect problems before they become visible on X-rays.

Don’t wait for the pain to get worse, take action now!

Conclusion

Wisdom teeth can cause a lot of pain and problems if they do not grow in properly.

It’s important to be aware of the symptoms and to take action early on to prevent further issues.

With regular check-ups, good oral hygiene and care, you can keep such pain from disrupting your oral health.

Make sure to visit your dentist regularly and follow their instructions and advice to keep your teeth healthy and pain-free.
